How do I send a temporary message or local file in MChat?
Ops: which talks belong in MChat?
Split one-time secrets from records you must keep. Codes, unpublished prices, and live meeting links go in MChat. Signed contracts stay in email. Say at the start: this lane burns. Do not ask someone to clean another messenger later.
Product: why is nothing kept on any device?
The room is encrypted. After the timer or a close, the client drops the buffer and the server has no history API. Ordinary messengers treat history as the product. MChat treats the absence of history as the product.
Features: how does MChat keep chat private?
- Burn after reading.
- Messages are not kept on any device.
- Copy and forward are blocked.
- Avatars are mosaicked so a screenshot is harder to identify.
How-to: add and send a temporary message
- Install from the MChat download page.
- Create a room and check the burn label.
- Invite the other person. Type a one-read sentence. Send.
- Do not look for copy. Close the window when done.
How-to: create and send a local file
- Create a small file on disk, under 20 MB, without a real name in the filename.
- Choose Send local file once.
- When the room closes, both caches clear. This is not a recycle-bin move.
- If you need a lasting copy, use an archive tool, not MChat.
What else should I avoid?
Screen share bypasses “no forward.” Do not share the desktop for secret text. Install only from mchatt.com. MChat is not the medical M-CHAT checklist and it does not export history.
